The Mystical Mind

Question: Is there a simple and effective means of divination that appeals to all age groups and is a relatively inexpensive investment?

Answer: Yes, Pendulums appeal to all different ages, may be worn as jewelry or carried, and are a good way to answer simple yes or no questions, find locations, and recover lost items.

So what is a pendulum? A pendulum is an item that has enough weight to it to hang from a string, chain, or cord in a straight line. It is usually ½ oz to 2 oz in weight. You can use a variety of household objects for your first pendulums such as a stone with a hole in it, a sinker from a fishing tackle box, a pendant, or a key. If you wish to use your pendulum for directions and map locations then a point is recommended. After you have become familiar with how to use one you can buy a more elaborate one made of a crystal, gemstone, or metal. Most pendulums range in price from $4 - $40 depending on the material used. It is important that your pendulum be balanced, so you should set the string or chain so that its weight is distributed as evenly as possible. It is not uncommon to have more than one type of pendulum or to use different pendulums for different types of questions. You may wish to have a collection of pendulums in various materials, sizes, and shapes.

Anyone can learn to work with a pendulum; it just takes a little practice. The more you work with it the easier it will be, and the better you will be able to distinguish between a desired answer and an actual answer. Pendulums are a way to directly access the subconscious mind and find answers through innate intuitive ability. Records have indicated that people have been dowsing and using pendulums since 6,000 B.C. so you will be practicing an age-old method of divination.

Once you have selected a pendulum and a chain or string has been attached to it, hold the string with your fingers facing down, and plant your elbow on a table. Your pendulum should be of sufficient weight so that the air or a slight motion from your hand does not move it. Think “No” and see which way the pendulum moves. The most common direction for No is a counter clockwise circle or a horizontal line. After you have recorded the movement then still the pendulum and think, “YES”. The most common movement for Yes is a vertical line or a clockwise circle. You should practice asking your pendulum to show you yes and no for a week to get a feel for it and to program it for consistency.

You may wish to see how your pendulum responds to simple yes no questions, by using the three-card method. To do the three-card method, select 2 black cards and one red from a regular deck of playing cards. Mix the cards and put them face down before you. Place the pendulum over each card and ask if it is the red card. Check for accuracy. Change your question and see how it responds. You may ask if this card is the same color as one of the others or if it is the black card. See what happens when you try to get it to say yes even though it seems to want to move differently. This will aid you in recognizing the difference in allowing the pendulum to respond naturally and when you are controlling it.

Once you have a feel for how your pendulum responds then you may wish to ask it other questions. You may put it over a map and ask if there is water in a certain area or mineral deposits. You may ask questions regarding health issues, love, career, or money, the range of questions you can ask are limitless. Just make sure that your questions are clear. Phrasing is important. If you state a question such as “Will I get a Raise?” rather than “Will I receive a raise next month?” you may get a yes answer to the first question, but it might be a long time in coming.
