Gems, Color, & ENergy

 I published this in the Charmed Times Newspaper (no longer in print) over five years ago and thought it still might prvide some insight so I am posting it. My current exploration into color gem energy vibration will be with Red.

What does the color do to the energy of a crystal? How does it affect the gem's energy? Are  colored gems worth working with? Should you only work with natural colors of the gems? Everyone has their personal opinion of gemstones and how best to utilize their energy and properties. If you find that one way works best for you, then I suggest you remain open to possibilities, but trust in yourself and your personal energy connection. The following is based on over 30 years of daily professional experience with gems and crystals. The acceptance and use of brightly colored enhanced gems and crystals may seem to be unnatural and a bit shocking based on their appearance, especially if you are used to working in natural colors and tones. Early on, I admit to having an aversion to them, believing they were kind of energetic mutants, I may go as far as even admitting I was a natural color snob. It was only after breaking through my restrictive perspective that I began to understand and feel how the natural energy of the gem interplayed with the color energy vibration. Then things became very interesting, and my exploration into the effects have continued to evolve.
My latest love is color selenite. I freely admit I want to wear one forever, and that for me, truly, is a unique experience. I think that it is one of the best ways to feel the effect the color has, as it freely flows through the naturally clearing channeling energy of selenite. Since selenite never needs to be cleared, it is the perfect combination. If you have the opportunity, I would strongly suggest holding one and feel it, because it is not altered from gem composition variants or outer energy contaminants.
What about other gems that are colored? Think of the color of a gem as an outfit. Perhaps you only wear blue and one day someone switches your wardrobe and you can only wear orange. Although you are naturally still yourself, the color around you makes you feel different. You may find yourself expressing yourself differently in some ways. Then over time, something interesting happens. The energy begins to balance and creates a new vibration. You see, energy for the most part, wants to find a balance. It is not as stable when it is in its extreme state. This is when you would begin to acclimate to the orange vibration and it would feel less uncomfortable to you. You may even find, when you reach this state, that you no longer favor blue, but perhaps are now open to giving green or yellow a try. There are some variables when working with color energy, so it is always best to hand select your gems when you can. Since it is all about the sensing of energy, you may choose to close your eyes when choosing a color gem. This will enable you to sense the energy vibration better, without the distraction of sight. This is particularly helpful when selecting gems that have varying opaqueness. Sometimes, you may only need a slight color enhancement, rather than a full on color explosion.
What about natural color gems? Think of these as the "classics". They will behave (direct energy) in a format with only slight variation from the attributes given them over the centuries. They are a fine choice because you know what to expect from them. It is important to keep in mind there is no reason to choose between a natural color gem and one that is enhanced. Both have characteristics that can be beneficial depending on how you intend to use them.
